About Christofer Bjurhult

My name is Christofer Bjurhult and I am a PhD student since autumn 2015. I hold a master degree (one year) in psychology and a master degree (two years) in child and youth studies.

The PhD project
The aim of the project is to investigate how unaccompanied children, who live in a residential care unit for unaccompanied children, experience their daily lives and their beings - from an existential perspective. An existential perspective means how the themes and living conditions meaningfulness/meaninglessness, loneliness/isolation, freedom and death can be seen and expressed by the children, in their speeches, writings and photographs. Whether other themes emerge is also of interest to investigate and how the residential care unit where the children live as well as other settings, where the children move within, meet and work with existential themes. An ethnographic method is planned to be used in the project.
