About Ing-Marie Johansson

Roles and affiliations
I am a qualified social worker since 1972 and have worked as a lecturer in social work at the University of Gothenburg since 1994. During the years I have been involved in International Social Work both in teaching and in developing academic courses. The latter work is within the frameworks of Nordplus, Erasmus, Linneus-Palme and the Swedish institute. I am currently involved in a research project concerning migrant families and child welfare.
I am member of the board of the Nordic Committee of Schools of Social Work.

Current and recently completed research project
Teenage boys with a migrant background and child protection services. The research is a part of my doctoral studies and has a focus on migrant children and families and their relationship with child protection agencies. The quantitative part of the research project has been carried out in cooperation with the National board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen). The research project is financed by FAS (Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research)

Child protection and democratic principles
This is a Nordic pedagogical project with the aim of strengthening education in empowerment, strengths and inclusivenessOK mening? within the field of Nordic child welfare. The project was completed in 2008.

Current teaching experience
I am teaching in the Swedish social work programme both on the Bachelor and on Master levels. I am also coordinating and teaching in the international master programme: “Master’s Programme in Social Work and Human Rights”. My areas of teaching are child welfare, families, migration and international social work. I am currently involved in Children in Adverse life situations (master). Social Work Practice and Professionalisation (international master). Psychosocial Work (bachelor). Evaluative and Quality Work for Professional Development (bachelor). Migration and Ethnic Diversity (bachelor). I am also in charge of the degree report course in the International Master Programme and supervise degree reports on bachelor level.
